The start of a new day: It was very early in the morning as Topaz woke up and headed downstairs to care for the animals of the ranch. The ranch was owned by her parents and was in the southern part of Feather Castletown. It has always been well known around the whole town. Even people from outside the town came to visit the ranch by times. Both of Topaz’s parents were already awake when Topaz came downstairs. Her mother used to work as the chef of a traditional Japanese restaurant. She decided to give up on her career and started supporting Kouki at the ranch after his parents died. Kouki, Topaz’s father, has always worked at the ranch. Topaz grabbed a slice of toast and went outside. Even though the sun was shining, the fog blocked the rays of the sun from reaching the grounds of earth. She went to the stables, where the family’s pets were spending their nights. The ranch had many different stables. Most of them were used by the customers, but this one was a Yuuki’s property. Right after she fed her cat, whose name was Sammi, and the two dogs, she went to the second part of the stable to care for her horse. Her horse was called Zebra. It was a white horse with some black spots. After finishing her chores, Topaz got ready for school. She changed into her school uniform, grabbed her breakfast and left the house.
Topaz and Amber had been waiting for Ruby for several minutes. Like any other day, the two were waiting next to an old tree. The tree was standing on the grounds that belonged to the Akahane family. Time passed and Ruby had still not come out yet, so the two decided to head to school without Ruby this time. While they didn’t want to leave their friend behind, the two could not risk being late either. So as Ruby finally left the restaurant, the two were already gone, which didn’t surprise her at all. After all, she was running late. If Amber was running late – which is impossible to happen – Ruby and Topaz would also leave her behind to make sure at least they are on time. Ruby ran towards the school’s entrance and as she changed her footwear, the school bell rang. Their first lesson that day was English; Ruby’s least favorite lesson. Ruby opened the door of the classroom and went to her seat right after being scolded by her teacher for being late. While sitting down, Ruby remembered that the reason she ran late today was because two of the fairies that have been living with her had gone missing while she and her twin sister got caught in a sisterly fight. She spent the whole morning searching for the fairies and, if White hadn’t reminded her, almost forgot about school because of that. Ruby was still lost in thoughts as the teacher asked her a question she could not answer because she didn’t pay attention, so Topaz jumped in and saved her friend by suggesting that she may answer the question instead of Ruby. Her answer was nearly perfect, but Topaz mixed up some of the tenses, which were her natural problem. Yet, even though her problem with the tenses, Topaz has always been pretty good in English. She even counts to the best students among the whole school.
